This print takes the idea of a horizon line and the traditional stripe pattern and reinterprets it with hand-drawn horizontal lines.
Lines, lines, lines
A tattoo apprentice once told me that drawing straight lines and connecting them to one another was part of his learning curriculum. I adopted the same idea in creating stripes, attempting to create them with different mediums- watercolour, markers of different thickness. I wanted to see if I could create one continuous line, much like how the horizon line runs through the world.
Colours & thickness
Tests with colours, thickness of lines and spacing between lines were important to make sure the stripes were flattering on all bodies.
